Turning waste into treasure
Our coasters and table mats consist of two things: left-over Kapulana fabric and crown caps. Kapulana is a fabric many Mozambicans use. It has vivid colors and it is used to make clothing, tablecloths, and accessories. The pieces of fabric used to make the coasters come from a Mozambican tailor, and would normally be thrown away because they're too small to make into a piece of clothing. The crown caps come from local restaurants in Mozambique and the Netherlands, that would normally throw away these treasures.
We are currently working on letting locals from Mozambique make the coasters In the near future we would like to let local people from Mozambique make the coasters, in order to cope with demand and provide jobs with fair incomes. Check our blog to be up to date about this topic!
